Prepaid Products

Gotransverse offers a prepaid feature that uses prepaid registers and the Stored Value Service (SVS). A prepaid register is similar to a gift card service and allows customers to fund a register and then draw down on the balance through usage consumption. A customer can have a prepaid register with an amount of money or a quantity of a product or service that can be used. You can view prepaid register balance and activity on the customer’s Account detail window in either the Customer Billing or Accounts application.

Usage that has been processed by SVS cannot be voided.

The following items need to be set up and configured prior to using the prepaid feature:

  1. A stored value gateway processor (refer to Stored Value Gateway Processors in the User Guide).

  2. Set up a prepaid register type (refer to Register Types Module in the User Guide).

  3. To allow negative one-time charges from a product configured to fund a prepaid balance if the resulting register balance falls below zero, the Enable negative contributions to bring an SVS register balance below zero Order system setting must be set to TRUE. The order amount and granted value must be equal. When FALSE, the balance may not fall below zero.

  4. Set up contribution and consumption products. For example, configure a One-Time product to fund the prepaid register. Then configure a Subscription or Add-On product to consume the prepaid register. This Subscription or Add-On product should have a price of zero. Products can be created and managed in either the Product Catalog or Products application.

After the required items are configured or created, you can complete the following:

  1. Order a contribution one-time product to fund the prepaid register in either the Customer Billing or Accounts applications.

A contribution One-Time product is a One-Time product that has been configured to fund a prepaid balance and specifies a prepaid register. Refer to Create One-Time Product (Product Catalog) or One-Time Product Definition (Products).

  2. Upload usage on the consumption Subscription or Add-On to consume the prepaid register in the Rating and Billing application.

  3. Order another one-time contribution product to add additional funds to a prepaid register.

  4. During the order process, establish and/or override automatic contribution threshold and replenishment amounts for the contribution one-time product.

  5. Set low balance threshold amounts.

  6. Configure SVS prepaid register email or HTTP notifications based on those thresholds in the Setup application.
