Usage Rules Module
The Usage Rules module of the Rating & Billing application manages global usage rules.
A global usage rule is a multidimensional usage rule that uses lookup tables, rate tables, and multiple calculations defined within a spreadsheet to act as a rating engine. A global usage rule is defined independently and then referenced by a product or service.
Formula Usage Rules and Match All Events Usage Rules are also available but are created and defined at the product, order item, or service level. Refer to the Usage Rules knowledge base article for more information about all usage rules.
Global usage rules use a *.XLSX spreadsheet to define how the usage rule will rate usage events. The spreadsheet allows formulas, as well as lookup tables and rate tables.
