Register Types Module

The Register Types module of the Products application manages all register types.

A prepaid register is a stored value service (SVS) method used to group and manage prepaid balances. The register type is specified when creating both the funding (one-time) and the consuming (Subscription) products using the Advanced Add option (refer to Add New Product). You can have as many register types as needed, and multiple funding and consuming products can be associated with a prepaid balance register.

To allow a negative balance on a prepaid SVS register, the Enable negative contributions to bring an SVS register balance below zero system setting (in the Order category) must be set to TRUE. This system setting allows the register balance to go below $0.00 if a contribution with a negative Granted Value is made to a prepaid SVS register. Also, the Order Amount and Granted Value must be the same value. Refer to System Settings for more information on configuring system settings.

The following register types are available:

  • Money — The register value represents units of currency against which rated usage is applied. The currency is assumed to be the same currency that is assigned to the billing account. The prepaid register with Money assumes that the resulting rating is monetary.

  • Count — The register value represents a quantity of a product or service against which rated usage is applied. The usage rules should be configured so that the rating results in a monetary amount equal to the units consumed from the register. The prepaid register with a Count assumes that the resulting rating is quantity.
