Edit Usage Event for a Pending Charge

After the usage event is added through either a usage file in Rating & Billing, or created in the Usage Module of the Customer Billing application, or posted with API 2.0 (Usage Events) link to an external web site, you can edit it in the Pending Charges tab on the Account Details window

Refer to Usage File Management Module for more information managing usage files in the Rating & Billing application.

You must have the Customer Billing - Pending Charges Full Access security authority as part of your role to edit and void usage events. Refer to Role, Authority, and Levels Module in the Admin section of this user guide for information on what security authorities are assigned to your role.

Complete the following steps to edit a usage event:

  1. Select Customer Billing from the Gotransverse application menu Module menu icon.

    You may see a Customers and an Accounts tab or just the Accounts window, depending on the value for the Allow Multi-Customer Accounts Billing system setting. The Allow Multi-Customer Accounts system setting must be set to True to see both tabs. If this system setting is set to False, you will only see the Accounts window while in the Customers module. Refer to System Settings for more information about configuring system settings.

  2. Select a customer from the list or search for a customer from the Search field to open the Customer Summary window.

    To quickly access a customer or billing account, click thequick search icon icon on the title bar (on either the Customers or Accounts window) and enter part of the customer or billing account name. If you do not see the Accounts tab, you can still search for a billing account from the Customers window by entering part of the number in the Search field. You can also bookmark regularly-used pages. Refer to Search Feature for more information.

    Click the collapse icon icon in the left pane to hide it. Click the icon to open it.

    You can manage which columns display in any table with a Configure or Columns button by clicking the button and selecting desired columns. In addition. If the table includes a Filter button, you can filter the table contents. If the table includes an Export button, you can export visible table contents (up to 50) to a CSV (comma-separated values) file. Refer to Data Tables for more information about using these features.

  3. On the Customers window, select an account to open the Customer Summary window.

  4. On the Customer Summary window, select an account on the Accounts tab to open the Account Details window.

  5. On the Account Details window, click the More tab, and select Pending Charges.

  6. On the Pending Charges window, click the Usage Events detail tab.

  7. For the usage event that you want to edit, complete one of the following actions:

    1. Click the ellipsis ellipsis icon icon in the Actions column, and select Edit Event to open the Edit Usage Event window.

    2. OR, select the usage event to open the Usage Event Details window, then click the edit icon icon to open the Edit Usage Event window.

  8. On the Edit Usage Event window, edit the required and relevant information:

    Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

    NOTE: To add or remove fields from the Edit Usage Event window, click Configure Fields and select or deselect fields. Click outside the drop-down window to close it. Any additional fields will display in the Edit Usage Event window.

    • Reference ID — Enter a new Reference ID.

    • Sequence ID — Enter a new Sequence ID.

      When you edit a Reference ID or Sequence ID, a new usage event is created.

    • Event Start Time — Read only fields for date and time of event.

    • Unit of Measure* — Select a new unit of measure from the drop-down list.

    • Amount* — Enter a new usage amount based on the type of Unit of Measure you selected.

    • Description — Enter additional information about the usage event.

    • Text01 through Text06 — Additional text fields to add information.

    • Number01 through Number06 — Additional numerical fields to add information.

    • Boolean01 through Boolean06 — Select either True or False from the drop-down.

    • Date01 through Date06 — Enter a new date or dates and their corresponding time for the usage event.

      The additional text, number, Boolean, and date fields are used to pass additional information for the usage event that can be used in rating or to store a value that was created in the rating process, depending on the usage rule. They can also be used to store additional information about the usage event.

  9. Click Edit Event to save your changes.
