Stored Value Service
The Stored Value Service (SVS) manages items such as gift cards or similar products that allow customers to order prepaid products and then draw down on the balance through usage consumption. SVS tracks and manages one or more prepaid balances for a customer billing account. SVS allows you to easily track the amount of money that has been consumed from the prepaid balance. The Stored Value Auto Top-Up (SVATU) service allows users to configure fields to determine if and when SVS automatically creates contribution orders.
According to the SVS business logic:
-
A contribution product is a onetime product marked to contribute to a prepaid register that changes the balance of a register. For example, the purchase of internet service to be used over time.
-
A consumption service can be a subscription or Add-On product with or without a recurring charge price, and with a usage rule, that has been configured to consume from a prepaid balance. For example, Add-On access to 4G internet service, and an allowance of minutes of usage.
For example: A customer buys access to an Internet service with the right to purchase time to use the service. The Internet service is a recurring charge, with or without a price, that gives users access to a network with a usage rule. The customer buys $150 worth of time for Internet usage. This is a onetime "top up" contribution charge that increases the register balance. Usage is processed that consumes the prepaid balances for the customer.
