Account Hierarchy

Account hierarchy enables billing accounts to be linked in parent-child relationships for usage allocation pooling and reporting purposes. An account hierarchy is made up of a parent account with associated child accounts. Parent accounts can have many child accounts, but child accounts can have only one parent account.

With an account hierarchy is enabled, you can pool usage allocations between accounts. A usage allocation pool allows a parent account to combine service usage of child accounts that can be distributed among child accounts as needed. Refer to Usage Allocation Pools for more information about usage allocation pools.

Account hierarchies can be created or manage in either the Customer Billing application (refer to Parent and Child Accounts or the Accounts application (refer to Manage Account Hierarchy).

The Enable Account Hierarchy Management Account system setting must be set to True to enable the creation of account hierarchies.

In addition, the Require same Bill Cycle for Account Hierarchy Account system setting determines whether or not all accounts in the hierarchy must be on the same bill cycle.

Refer to System Settings for more information about how to configure system settings in the Admin application and to the Account System Settingsknowledge base article for more information about these and other related Account system settings.

An account hierarchy is different than a billing hierarchy. Refer to Billing Hierarchy for more information.
