Product Relationships
You can link products for bundling or cross-sell by creating parent, child, recommended, and incompatible product relationships. Product relationships enable you to recommend or restrict products from being sold together. Create the products before you specify relationships between them.
You can also link an agreement to a product. Agreements are created and managed in the Products application’s Agreements Module module and can be viewed in the Product Catalog application’s Agreements Module module.
Products can have the following relationships:
-
Parent — A Subscription product with one or more associated Add-On (child) products. A One-Time product cannot be a parent product. The relationship is also available for a relation between two Add-On products if the Service Hierarchy Maximum Add On Level system setting is greater than 1.
-
Child — An Add-On product associated with a Subscription. This is not a standalone product and must have a parent product. A stand-alone Subscription product or One-Time product cannot be a child product. This relationship is also available for a relation between two Add-On products if the Service Hierarchy Maximum Add On Level system setting is greater than 1.
-
Recommended — A product that is associated with another product and is highlighted, at the time of order, as a product that is recommended but not required to be sold when the primary product is purchased.
-
Incompatible in Order or Incompatible in Account — A product that cannot be sold on the same order as the primary product or is incompatible with the related primary product on the customer's account. For example, the phone case is the wrong size for the phone being purchased on the same order, or the phone the customer already has on the account.
-
Agreements — An agreement sets the terms through which you offer products and services to your customers.
