Product Pricing
To create an active product that can be added to orders, you must set at least one price for the product. After you create the product, you can add more prices or update prices as they change over time.
You can define prices with tiered and tapered pricing models that include multiple currencies. You can also set up pre- and post-paid products, prorated pricing, and also allow price overrides on orders.
Products can have multiple recurring prices as needed. Each recurring price must have a different combination of currency, recurring period, and tax mode.
While tax mode is present on all prices, it is exposed only when the tax processor is Avalara Communications Tax. For tenants with other tax processors or no tax processor, the tax mode will default to the value in the Product Taxation Mode system setting (refer to System Settings and the Tax System Settings Knowledge Base article.
For example, you can sell a product at $10 per month or $20 per quarter. The recurrence period and currency combination must be unique. You can create multiple combinations per product.
Normally a product has either a one-time price or a recurring price, but a product can have both at the same time as needed.
Usage rules for a product are added to and managed under the recurring price of a product. Usage rules configured at the product level are copied forward as a product is ordered and turned into a service. Product usage rules can be changed during the order process or when the product becomes a service when the Rule Override option is selected for the product (refer to Products Module for more information about selecting this option).
You can delete prices from products in Draft status.
